- We are seeking an individual interested in natural resource management, stewardship and community involvement. The position will assist CCFEG/TU develop and implement fishery restoration and water acquisition projects. In addition, the position will conduct outreach, help develop an environmental education program and build membership programs. CCFEG/TU are collaborating on four primary project areas: 1) Salmon in the Classroom, 2) General Education/Outreach/Membership Development, 3) Nutrient Enhancement Study and 4) Restoration Projects.

This position is through the Western Hardrock Watershed Team AmeriCorps OSM/VISTA program. GRIP is a non-profit environmental organization that works to promote community health by protecting our environment and natural resources in southwestern New Mexico.

A nonprofit organization of young, old and in-between, students and retired people, office workers, engineers and wildlife professionals -- all concerned about the land. Government and private landowners need good information on which to base their decisions for the long-term health of the environment. We do ecological monitoring to help fill that gap. Monitoring is done by community members under the direction of professionals.

- Governor Susana Martinez Announces Opening of River Stewardship Program Request for Proposals 2014
- Governor Susana Martinez and the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) announced today that the River Stewardship Program Request for Proposals (RFP) will open in early June, with submission due in mid-July. Proposals will be considered from towns, cities, counties, state agencies, soil and water conservation districts, irrigation districts, and community watershed groups, as well as Indian Nations, Pueblos, and Tribes. Additional groups that work to restore river habitats are also encouraged to apply.

- The Paso del Norte Watershed Council (Council) has been awarded a watershed restoration grant to develop a Watershed Based Plan to protect and improve water quality in the lower Rio Grande from Percha Dam (below Caballo Reservoir) downstream to the American Dam (near the New Mexico, Texas, and international border). Funding has been provided by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency through the New Mexico Environment Department under the authority of the Clean Water Act Section 319(h) Nonpoint Source grant program.
